Two Crow's RoadhouseTwo Crows Roadhouse

Sebastopol, CA

A cold brisk late autumn Sunday morning - a nice time to hunker down in the warmth of the blankets. But no, I drag my kid out into the cold with the promise of breakfast in a restaurant. Luckily, she is up for the adventure. We admire the changing leaves and the deep blue sky and the smell of wood smoke all around.

We are driving to Two Crows Roadhouse, three miles outside of downtown Sebastopol, out on the very scenic Bodega Hiway. There are not too many cars when we enter the parking area, but it is first thing in the morning. When we walk into the small yellow roadhouse, we are enveloped by the smell of good coffee and bacon, and we are greeted by a few folk who are chatting comfortably with the proprietor behind the bar. Regulars! Oh, what I wouldn't give to be a regular. And this would be a good place to be one. You have the feeling of stepping off the stagecoach into a welcoming shelter from the storm... without the buxom women with the swirling skirts (although rumor has it that this, in fact, once upon a time, was a bordello!).

But now, it's just an eatery, and one worth trying. I had a delicious special-of-the-day breakfast burrito filled with all organic, or as close as they can get, veggies and bacon. They are cultivating organic produce on the property with the hopes of creating a sustainable environment. We really like that. My little miss had the blueberry corncakes (what a surprise...) with the caption of "like mama should've made them" which made me feel guilty for a millisecond until I tasted them and knew I couldn't have made them any better.

These guys are open for breakfast and lunch, Thursday thru Sunday - but don't trust their website for hours because I think they have somewhat later winter hours - that was why there weren't a lot of people in the parking lot when we got there, since they weren't "officially" open yet. They graciously let us in anyway, but do call ahead to confirm. Also, I recall some sign suggesting some dinner hours, but, again, call.

I hope you enjoy it,

Mimi
