Peter Lowell'sPeter Lowell's - Sebastopol, CA

This is our first recommendation of Sonoma County treats and hopefully for those of you who don't live here, these can become destinations for you on your next visit to California. And for those of you who do live here...

Peter Lowell's is a new restaurant situated in a recently completed sustainable housing and commercial complex in Sebastopol, CA (That's one hour north of SF for you out-of-towners). An airy neomodernoclassicoitalianonorcal interior comfortably ensconces the winebardelipizzeriabakeryonlymadewith-sustainableingredients eatery. You can't help but feel healthy and gentle on the earth while eating in this environment. The food, which ranges from delicious exotic pizzas to tasty beans and greens bowls to a reuben sandwich made with tempeh, is beautifully prepared with exceptionally fresh ingredients. Though not fully vegetarian - they do have some fish entrees in the evening, their emphasis is on organic, sustainably-produced foods. If you are a fan of this philosophy and want to read more they have some interesting links on the Community page of their website to sustainable food sources.

Portions are appropriately sized, but if you order too much, you can take it home in biodegradable containers. Although I haven't tried everything on the menu yet (and I do expect to over the next few months), the highlights for me have been their pizzas, their spicy greens, their luscious desserts and, okay I admit it, their cortado- a double espresso with a little milk. mmm...

Open 7 days a week (bless them!)

I hope you enjoy it,

Mimi
